All full time registered students are entitled to use the Student Health Service in Trinity College throughout the year. The service provides free primary health and psychiatric care through its on-campus facility. For health emergencies outside the Service’s hours (10:30-13:00, 14:15-16:40), there is an emergency GP service based at St James Hospital. The telephone number for this service is 01 454 5607.
If you are unable to leave your residence, there is a domicilary service (01 830 0244) which will send a doctor to you.
If you require an ambulance, dial 999 or 112. The injured or ill party will be taken to the nearest hospital with a Casualty or Accident and Emergency (A & E) department. If you are not entitled to free emergency treatment, there will be an initial charge of €100 for the emergency service. Subsequent treatment or hospitalization is also charged.
Emergency Medical Cover
These services, and general emergency health treatment and hospital care, are free to Irish students holding a medical card, British and Northern Irish full-time students and EU students who have a valid E111, E106, E109 or E128 form. The latter forms entitle you to all medical services free of charge.
If you are a non-EU student, you must make your own provisions for medical cover. You will need to show evidence of full private health insurance before being issued with a student visa.
